Fess Irvin
Career Highlights
Fess
Irvin started his career in Gonzales, Louisiana and fast became one of the most
highly touted point guards in the country. He was a three time Parade
All-American at East Ascension High School, selected as a 1st team McDonald's
High School All American in 1986.
After being recruited by every major college in the country, Fess decided to
play college basketball at Louisiana State University. At LSU, Fess received All
SEC honors as a freshman and led LSU to the Final Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
After two successful seasons at Louisiana State, Fess decided to transfer to
James Madison University. He was a two year first team All-Conference performer
at JMU. During his years at JMU, Fess led them to two CAA regular season
championships. He was a dean's list student and graduated with a BS in
Marketing. He won the minority Student Athlete of the Year award twice in the
State of Virginia.
In 1991, Fess received
interviews from the Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and
Portland Trailblazers, and was a 1st round pick in the CBA and the USBL.
He went on to start his professional play in Europe. Fess has played and
performed clinics in Italy, France, Greece, Japan, Poland, Sweden and
Australia.
